At Exodus Academy, we believe in equipping our students with not only academic knowledge but also valuable life skills that will set them up for success in the future. One of the most important skills we focus on is financial stewardship—teaching our kids how to manage money, understand responsibilities, and make thoughtful decisions about their resources. We’re excited to announce two new initiatives that will help our students put these lessons into practice: the Exodus Stop and Shop and the Classroom Economy Jobs.
The Exodus Stop and Shop: A Fun Way to Learn About Money
Starting this Friday, our students will have the chance to experience a hands-on lesson in financial stewardship through the Exodus Stop and Shop. This is not just a school store, it’s an interactive learning experience where students will be able to purchase a variety of items, from school supplies to delicious treats! The Stop and Shop will provide a real-world opportunity for students to see how budgeting works, how to make spending choices, and how to prioritize their wants versus needs.
But it’s not just about buying things—students will learn important lessons about earning, saving, and the value of money. They’ll discover the excitement of making smart choices with their resources while enjoying the rewards of their hard work and savings. Through the Exodus Stop and Shop, students will gain practical insights into how money works in the world outside the classroom.
Classroom Economy Jobs: Renting, Earning, and Taking Responsibility
In addition to the Stop and Shop, we’re also introducing Classroom Economy Jobs. This system is designed to teach students the value of earning, budgeting, and managing their "money" while also learning personal responsibility. Here’s how it works:
Each student is assigned a job in the classroom—jobs that teach important skills such as leadership, teamwork, and time management. The twist? To “rent” their desk, chair, pencils, and other classroom essentials, students will need to earn classroom money by performing their jobs. Whether it’s helping keep the classroom organized, assisting a friend with a task, or taking care of the classroom’s materials, students will learn the importance of work, responsibility, and how their contributions positively impact the environment around them.
The Classroom Economy Jobs system also helps students understand the idea of “rent” and the concept of having to earn enough money to cover their basic needs. By "renting" their own classroom space, they’ll learn about budgeting, saving, and making choices to ensure they have enough money to meet their needs each week. It’s an engaging and practical way for students to gain an understanding of finances while also fostering a sense of responsibility for their personal space and their role in taking care of the school campus.
Tithing and Giving Back: Teaching Generosity
In addition to managing money, we also emphasize the importance of tithing and giving back to others. At Exodus Academy, we believe that financial stewardship goes beyond simply managing money—it’s also about using resources to help others. We teach our students to give back to the church, community, and those in need.
Through the Classroom Economy Jobs and the Exodus Stop and Shop, students will have the opportunity to set aside a portion of their “earnings” for tithing. This practice will help them understand the value of generosity, kindness, and making a positive impact on the world around them. Whether it's contributing to a charitable cause or helping a friend in need, we want our students to learn the importance of sharing their resources with others.
Building Character Through Financial Stewardship
At Exodus Academy, our goal isn’t just to teach financial principles—it’s to instill values like responsibility, hard work, generosity, and the importance of contributing to a community. By engaging with the Classroom Economy Jobs, the Exodus Stop and Shop, and tithing, students learn not just about managing money, but also about how their actions impact their school, their friends, and themselves. They’ll understand the importance of making thoughtful decisions, working together as a team, and contributing to the greater good.
We are incredibly excited to see our students dive into these initiatives, and we believe these experiences will set them up for success not just in school, but in life. Through financial stewardship and giving back, they’ll not only learn valuable skills but also develop a strong sense of responsibility and compassion.

Thank you for being a part of the Exodus Academy community. We look forward to seeing how our students grow and learn through these exciting new opportunities!
